AS Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell has offered an insight into his transfer strategy amid speculation surrounding a switch to Liverpool.
The former Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and RB Leipzig chief is set to leave the Ligue 1 side at the end of the summer transfer window, prompting speculation surrounding a switch to the hierarchy at Anfield. There will be another shift at the top for the Reds as Julian Ward will depart his position, just a year after replacing Michael Edwards. As a result, Jurgen Klopp will now welcome a new sporting director at the end of the season, a third in just two years.
Mitchell has spearheaded the transformation at the St Louis II Stadium as they now boast a state-of-the-art training facility with their on-field showings now beginning to reap rewards. His time in the sovereign-city state has already saw the big-money moves for Benoit Badiashile and Aurleien Tchouameni.

With rumours circulating surrounding a potential move to Liverpool, the 41-year-old has offered insight into what he could offer for the Reds.
"I look on the squad and improvement comes in two ways, it comes in from one, recruitment - I can recruit and we can recruit to improve in the short-term to improve the results or we can recruit and invest in the long-term and develop players," he explained to Amazon Prime Video Sport France.
"When I arrived here Benoit [Badiashile] and Aurelien [Tchouameni] were substitutes, two-and-a-half years ago and if the strategy was to continue recruiting on top of that talent and potential, that talent and potential would not be what it is today. So once again, why are you recruiting?
"I think he [Philippe Clement] is part of the global strategy," he continued, discussing manager Philippe Clement after they made no new signings during the January transfer window. "We recruit coaches like we recruit players, to align with our vision and our strategy for success."
