Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice has been mentioned as a potential candidate for President-elect Donald Trump's education secretary position. However, Justice has expressed her belief that the Department of Education, the very agency she could lead, should be abolished.
Justice emphasized the importance of parents in driving student success, stating that they should have a more significant role in their children's education. She highlighted the need to empower parents and criticized the Department of Education for diminishing parental involvement and allowing external influences to dictate educational standards.
President Trump has also considered the idea of abolishing the Department of Education, a proposal that aligns with conservative views that have long questioned the agency's efficacy. Concerns over Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) curriculum, sex education, and teachers' union influence have fueled calls for reform.
Despite the challenges of dismantling the agency, which would require approval from 60 senators, alternative measures such as a reconciliation bill to address bureaucratic positions and education programs may be pursued.
If the Department of Education remains intact, Justice suggested several reforms to enhance the education system, including eliminating Critical Race Theory and addressing issues related to transgender policies in public schools. She advocated for common-sense governance, increased school choice, and greater transparency for parents regarding their children's education.
Justice expressed confidence in President Trump's ability to fulfill his promises to the American people, citing his track record of making strategic cabinet appointments. She believes that Trump will work towards achieving the educational reforms he has outlined.
