Momodou Bojang on brink of Hibs transfer exit but Marijan Cabraja set for Easter Road stay

Momodou Bojang looks set to leave Hibs next month as Lee Johnson steps up his January clearout. But Marijan Cabraja won’t be departing Easter Road, despite reports suggesting the Croatian was heading for a shock exit.

Gambian striker Bojang has failed to impress since arriving on loan from Rainbow FC in June and Record Sport understands his year-long deal is likely to be cut short. Johnson admits he needs to streamline his bloated squad with forward Steven Bradley already having left to sign a deal with Livingston.

Bojang could be next after appearing for a total of just 47 minutes across seven substitute appearances. Hibs had an option to make the 21-year-old’s loan deal permanent if he produced the goods. But the Gambia U20 international has failed to live up to the hype that surrounded his arrival in Scotland in the summer.

While Bojang looks set to leave, Cabraja won’t be joining him if the manager has his way. The left-back signed a three-year deal from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer and is one Johnson reckons has huge potential.

The 25-year-old Croatian has nailed down the left back position and made 16 appearances since arriving in Leith. Meanwhile Hibs have yet to receive any offers for Ryan Porteous despite the list of suitors for the soon to be free agent growing. Hull City are understood to have joined Stoke, Millwall, Sunderland, Watford, West Brom and Norwich City in the hunt for the defender who has turned down a new deal at Easter Road.

Serie A side Udinese are also interested in the Scotland international who can leave for nothing in the summer. Hibs were dealt a blow on Saturday when Dylan Tait - on loan at Arbroath - suffered a serious knee injury which could end his season.

Lichties boss Dick Campbell said: “We lost Dylan Tait. Dylan’s just come back, and he’s a special young talent, and now we’ve lost him. It looks a bad one, he could be out for the season."
