Momodou Bojang contacted PFA claiming he was treated poorly by Hibs

Former Hibs striker Momodou Bojang has contacted the PFA claiming he was treated poorly by the club during his loan spell there.

Bojang failed to impress boss Lee Johnson after arriving in June from Rainbow FC and the Easter Road side opted to cut short his temporary stint in the capital.

The 21-year-old racked up a total of just 47 minutes across seven substitute appearances and has now returned to Gambia after the Hibees activated a release clause in the season-long agreement.

The frontman has been left unhappy over his time in Edinburgh and dished out a scathing verdict on his time in the Scottish Premiership to Gambian outlet GamFoot Transfers. Bojang shared the now-deleted interview to his Instagram along with a video of the accommodation he lived in while with Hibs, claiming: “The club is trying to act like I am a bad player with their statement. I believe that I was treated worse than an animal.

“They cut my salary and added strange taxes. I was given a tiny room as an apartment. A very small bed as you have in a prison cell. I used to walk to the training ground from where I live.

“I used to cry myself to sleep. The coach would always shout on my from day 1 and acted as (if) he never wanted me here. They forced me to terminate my deal with them, my agent didn’t help me or fight for me.

“They are even right now trying to kick me out from the apartment I am staying at. I have contacted PFA to help me with my case because this is too much. I will involve FIFA as well.”

Chief Executive Fraser Wishart confirmed the PFA had been in contract with the striker. He said: “Momodou did contact the PFA and the issue has now been passed to our lawyers. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”

Hibs declined to comment on the claims from Bojang when approached by Record Sport. Following the exit of the player, Johnson branded the move “essentially a trial’.

He told the club website: “We brought Momodou to the Club after impressing for The Gambia’s U23s to see whether we could open an avenue into the African academies because they produce very good players. This loan spell was essentially a trial for him, and for us.

“We felt that he did ok, but ultimately, we didn’t see him going on to affect our first team, which is why we brought the loan spell to an end. We wish him all the best for the future.”
