Moment huge humpback whale crashes against boat sparking screams from passengers

Footage shows a massive humpback whale crashing into a boat that causes screams from passengers.

A group had gone on a boating trip to see dolphins and the natural world firsthand off the coast of New York when they got more than they bargained for.

Passengers were off the Long Beach shore looking at the serene sea as they started their Memorial Day weekend.

And suddenly there was a large splash and the humpback whale came from nowhere to knock against their boat.

Then a woman, Nicole Liotta, could be heard screaming as she filmed the whale suddenly emerge.

She reportedly said that her reaction was “more out of shock” than in fear for her life.

Nicole posted the footage of the whale on Instagram and the whale is believed to have been seen again later but further away from the boat.

The 27-year-old from Long Beach told the New York Post that the whale hit the boat and that there were three passengers on board - with two shrieking.

The dramatic images led to the video going viral and many people commenting on it.

One person said: “That’s awesome! May scare the hell out of me but I would love it for sure!!”

Another claimed: “My heart would have stopped if I was on that boat,” while a person agreed: “That scream. I’d be doing the same lol.”

Meanwhile, earlier this month a British couple told of the terrifying moment they were attacked by killer whales while sailing off the coast of Morocco.

Janet Morris and Stephen Bidwell, from Cambridge, said they were "sitting ducks" when they came across a pod of orcas, during a sailing course.

Some of the deadly mammals then started bumping the boat, for more than an hour, the couple said.

The couple were taking a nap in preparation for their night-watch duty when they felt banging on the hull and heard crew members shout, 'Orcas! Orcas!' - so they rushed to deck.

At some point during the attack the crew saw the orcas - thought to number at least six - chasing pieces of debris that looked like sponge in the water.

The orcas let up the chase after an hour but the steering on the boat failed so they headed back to shore.

Faced with high winds and big swells, the crew managed to navigate to calmer waters, and away from the orcas to a point of safety.
