This was the moment a north Manchester man had a rude awakening before being arrested following a drugs bust. Officers descended on Winterdyne Street, in Harpurhey, early on Tuesday morning (February 7).
Greater Manchester Police officers rammed down the front door of a property on the street before searching inside. It was part of an operation carried out by the police team which deals with county lines - a type of dealing which often sees organised crime groups from major cities supply drugs in smaller towns or rural areas.
Following the dawn raid, GMP arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin. He is currently in police custody.
A spokesperson for GMP Moston said: "Officers from our county lines team were up bright and early this morning on Winterdyne Street, Harpurhey executing a warrant that led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin. He is now in custody."
GMP says county lines drug dealing often involves the exploitation of vulnerable people - including children, people struggling with their mental health, or people battling addiction. They are often recruited to distribute drugs, usually referred to as ‘drug running’.
Anyone with concerns about drug-related crime or exploitation can call GMP on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. Further information about exploitation linked to county lines and the signs to look out for are available on GMP's website.
