Moment 79 bus almost joins the LFC parade

The 79 Arriva bus service almost joined the LFC parade as it got caught up in the celebrations.

Photos captured by our ECHO photographer showed the bus surrounded by a sea of red as the LFC victory tour bus went by on Childwall's Five Ways today. The team have returned home from Paris after the Reds were denied a seventh European cup as Real Madrid won the 2022 Champions League final.

But it's been a memorable season for Liverpool, who won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup and crowds of supporters have lined the streets of the city to welcome the team back. An up close photo of the 79 bus, which runs from Liverpool One bus station to Halewood Shopping Centre, shows supporters on the top deck of the bus enjoying the atmosphere.

Arriva North West has been live tweeting any delays the bus services have been facing. In one tweet a spokesperson said: "Parade is approaching Childwall Fiveways, expect imminent delays on 79's and 81's."

At around 5.15pm, the spokesperson said the bus service returned back to normal routes, however there may be some delays. They said: "GOOD NEWS! 75, 76, 79, 80, 80A and 86A have all now returned to normal routes. There will still be some delays, but your services will be going the way you expect..."

Thousands have fans have come out to welcome the boys in red home. The parade is set to be a huge city event and will also include the Liverpool FC Women's side who won the Women's Championship trophy in April.

The 13.5km victory route, the same as the 2019 parade, started at Allerton Maze in the south of the city. It will then travel north bound on Queens Drive towards the Fiveways roundabout (in Childwall) and on to the Rocket flyover. From there it will journey along: Queens Drive, Mill Bank, West Derby Road, Islington, Leeds Street and The Strand.
