Mom of Chiefs Fan Found Frozen in Backyard Shocked to Learn of Arrests 14 Months After Bodies Found: 'They Wouldn't Tell Me Anything'

The mother of one of three Kansas City Chiefs fans found dead and frozen in the backyard of a friend said she was surprised to learn charges were being filed in the case, according to a report.

"I was thinking the investigation had ended," Theresa Harrington told the Daily Mail. "They wouldn't tell me anything."

On January 9, 2024, 38-year-old Ricky Johnson, 36-year-old Clayton McGeeney, and Theresa's son, 37-year-old David Harrington, were found dead in the backyard of their friend Jordan Willis. The men had gone to Willis' Kansas City home on January 7 to watch the Chiefs game.

Willis later told authorities that he thought they had left. Instead, they were found dead in when McGeeney's fiance came looking for him. This week, police announced manslaughter and drug charges against Willis and Ivory Carson.

Theresa told the Daily Mail she was surprised by the turn of events. "The police always said they weren't investigating it as a homicide," she told the newspaper. "[I] still don't know anything about how my son died or his last moments."

At a press conference this week Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd said the three men died of combined fentanyl and cocaine toxicity. He said police found two bags in Willis house - one contained cocaine and one contained fentanyl. He said DNA on the bags connected them to Willis and Carson.

"I am happy with the Platte County Prosecutor's Office and the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department for filling charges," Rick Johnson, Ricky Johnson's father, told Fox 4 KC. "It's been a long time. And I'll be at every court date."
