Molly Mae Hague has reflected on some early career mistakes, opening up about the time she was "semi-fired" from a job for partying and nipping to the hairdressers while signed off sick.
The former Love Island contestant, 23, says resigning from her job as a receptionist at a gym after a disciplinary meeting helped her learn the importance of accepting responsibility for things.
Writing in her new memoir, Becoming Molly-Mae, the Instagram influencer explains how a one-time desire to be a personal trainer led her to manning the desk of a local gym - learning how to become a spin instructor on the side.
However the 6am start times saw the former reality TV star fall out of love with exercise, with Molly-Mae confessing by the time her shift was over she wouldn't want to stick around to workout.
"I kind of got fired from the gym in the end," Molly-Mae writes, recalling the end of her fitness career.
"Basically, I had glandular fever, and I was just so, so unwell that I was signed off from work by a doctor for a month. Towards the end of that time, I started to feel a bit better, but I though, 'I'll go back to work when I'm 100% recovered'."
The PrettyLittleThing creative director goes on to explain how during that time period she was due to take part in a ceremony to hand back her pageant crown so nipped to the hairdressers to get her hair done - only to be spotted by a gym member who reported her to her bosses.
Molly-Mae goes on to explain how thanks to leaving her emails signed in on a work computer, gym bosses spotted receipt that revealed that she had taken an Uber in London at 3am.
The fast-fashion lover had been on a night out with her college pals, making "some really fun memories", when she missed the last train and had to get an expensive taxi home.
The night out got her in some serious trouble with her bosses at the gym.
"My manager asked me, 'You've had all the time off work, Molly. Are you really unwell?' I had been! But I probably should have gone back to work a bit earlier," Molly-Mae confesses in her new memoir.
She goes on to admit that the small team probably struggled without her and understood their upset.
The star was called into disciplinary meeting, where bosses presented evidence "to show that I wasn't unwell", and after that, Molly-Mae's police officer father helped her write a long resignation letter accepting responsibility for her actions.
Reflecting on the experience, the star says it taught her what she didn't want from a job and reinforced her desire for "something a bit different" in terms of a career.
Of course, things worked out well with Molly-Mae post-gym, with the star going on to appear on Love Island shortly after her 'semi-firing' and going on to acquire millions of followers and her dream career in fashion.
