Molly-Mae Hague takes swipe at Jake Paul after Tommy Fury returns home and speaks of difficulties 'behind closed doors'

Molly-Mae Hague has given her man Tommy Fury a hero's welcome after his victory in the ring against Jake Paul. The Manchester boxer defeated American YouTuber turned fighter Jake by a split decision following their much-anticipated grudge match after more than two years of trash talking on Sunday night.

Molly-Mae, who gave birth to their daughter Bambi on January 23, was joined at home by her sister Zoe and friends Maura Higgins, Stephanie Lam and Ellen Graham as the nailbiting event took place in Saudi Arabia. She said on her Instagram Stories about his win: "Never a doubt in my mind."

Paying tribute to new dad Tommy she said: "The pressure that was on his boys shoulders... I will never, ever know how he dealt with it. Never been more proud of anyone in my life." She then added: "GET HOME TO US OUR CHAMP," alongside a crying emoji.

Former Love Island star Tommy defeated Jake by split decision after eight rounds. There was an adorable moment as the 23-year-old carried out his ring walk ahead of his fight wearing a white and hooded gown bearing his baby girl's name written in gold lettering on the chest. Tommy also had Bambi's name on the waistband of his shorts.

As she welcomed him through the door of their home, Tommy was greeted with a sweet display of white, gold and grey balloons as a huge sign stood in the corner which read "Welcome home Champ!" in large gold lettering alongside matching boxing gloves. The sign also read: "We are so proud of you."

Molly-Mae, 23, who met and fell in love with Tommy on the ITV2 dating show Love Island in 2019, has since taken to Instagram posting a powerful message to say "the good guy doesn't always finish last." The creative director for fashion brand PrettyLittleThing also spoke of their difficulties "behind closed doors" in the run-up to the fight.

"DADDYS HOME," she cheered, as she shared a collection of snaps including one of the doting new parents with Bambi and one of Tommy refuelling as he enjoyed a burger and chips. She typed: "From day 1 of this fight being mentioned two and a half years ago, I backed this boy.

"It definitely wasn’t a straight or easy road, we had some seriously not so good days behind closed doors… but Sunday night made it all worth it. The good guy doesn’t always finish last, I am so proud of you."

Jake, 26, apologised for leaking the birth of Molly-Mae and Tommy's daughter as part of the build-up to to the fight. He inadvertently announced the new arrival himself in a social media post before the couple.

He said in update announcing the fight that Fury had "no excuses now" before listing that the "baby is born" among other reasons no longer preventing them from fighting. In a sit-down face-to-face he said: "I apologise actually for leaking your baby's announcement; I honestly didn't mean to say that before." Jake then revealed a white gift box tied with a ribbon and handed it over to Tommy, saying: "I've actually got a gift for Bambi; this is like a really nice designer baby brand."

Tommy welcomed the gesture, replying: "Well, thank you very much; I'm sure she [Molly-Mae] will appreciate it." And Tommy's father John shook his hand and said: "Let me shake this man's hand, because you've gone up one million per cent in my estimation. May the best man win, appreciate it, may the best man win, mate. Good lad."

The Internet sensation Jake, who has over 22m Instagram followers and 20m subscribers on YouTube, issued a message to his young supporters who may have been upset over the result. Taking to Twitter, Paul said: “To all my young fans, I love you.

"Don’t be saddened by my loss. Life is full of ups and downs. You just have to learn from your failures and come back better. Hard work, hard work, hard work. I will be back.”
