Molly-Mae Hague's dad speaks about 'unfair' and 'prominent' birthmark she had as a kid

Molly-Mae Hague 's father Stephen Hague has opened up about the "prominent" birthmark that she had as a child, recalling that people used to make comments about it.

The influencer, 23, has been open about her 'strawberry birthmark' in the past, with it having been mentioned again in her autobiography Becoming Molly-Mae, released today.

The new memoir - released through Ebury Publishing - documents the PrettyLittleThing creative director's "unique story," including her experiences before Love Island.

It's understood to feature photos and stories from her childhood, with both Molly-Mae and her dad Stephen having written about the birthmark that she had removed.

The former police officer said that it seemed "unfair" for his daughter to have a birthmark on her forehead, with him also recalling the response it got, as reported by OK!.

Stephen wrote: "As dad to two daughters, I felt it was unfair for a girl to have the birthmark in such a prominent location." He however said it gave her an "adorable quality."

Discussing the way people responded to her appearance when she was younger, he recalled getting into "verbal fights" with people who said "rude things" about the mark.

Molly-Mae's dad however noted that many people actually "protected her from cruel remarks" and he thinks it "defined some of her resilience" towards the media as an adult.

She has herself previously been open about the birthmark, discussing it in a makeup tutorial on YouTube last year. She has shared photos of the birthmark in the past as well.

The social media influencer encouraged others to embrace their birthmarks, with her stating that the only reason she had hers' removed was because it was "right on [her] head".

Molly-Mae previously revealed that the birthmark was removed before she went to secondary school, with her further discussing the experience in her new autobiography.

According to OK! magazine, she wrote that she didn't want to get rid of it initially because it made her stand out. She's said to have had it removed to prevent bullying though.

You can read more about her childhood and other experiences in her newly-released autobiography, titled Becoming Molly-Mae, which is out now.
