Pop star and TV presenter Mollie King who is engaged to Nottinghamshire cricketer Stuart Broad has spoken about her Christmas after her father sadly died earlier this year. In a post on Instagram the former Saturdays singer said she had been bolstered by being around family and seeing her new daughter with Broad laugh for the first time.
She said: “This year, more than ever, I’ve been so grateful to be surrounded by my family at Christmas time For me it’s been mixed emotions heading up to Christmas Day as I’ve feared all of us sitting down for lunch and having one chair less without our Pops at the table.
"I know I’m not the only one who will be missing a loved one this Christmas and my heart goes out to anyone who’s also going through this. I’ve kept reminding myself how lucky I am to be surrounded by so many of the people I love.

"And without a doubt the constant chatter from the little ones, seeing Annabella laugh for the first time, countryside walks and Home Alone on repeat made sure we all created more special memories, and most importantly, that my little girl’s Christmas was magical, just as it should be Thank you Mum for getting us all together. Sending so much love to anyone else going through this at this time xx.”
Fans spoke of how they were thinking of her. Fellow Radio 1 DJ Katie Thistleton said: “Such a beautiful family love you xxxx.” Fashion blogger Kelly Eastwood said: “Sending huge love Mollie.”
Fan Katej4040 said: “Lost my dad 2021. Don’t think you will ever get over it, but time makes it a little bit easier. He will be with you in your hearts forever.”
Another follower called Klongy123 added: “The first one is extremely difficult but you’re right, the only way to get through it is to surround yourself with your family and close friends, this was our 6th without dad, but I do feel for you as the first is so hard.”
