Moises Caicedo transfer 'more achievable' as Liverpool and Chelsea claims made

Liverpool could face serious competition to land Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo this January, according to reports.

The Reds are in urgent need of midfield reinforcements with their current crop struggling to take control of Premier League matches and Ecuadorian Caicedo is a name that has been linked with Liverpool since the summer.

But after Graham Potter's struggling Blues saw attempts to land Benfica star Enzo Fernandez collapse, the West London club are now on the hunt for an alternative option.

And according to The Guardian, deals for Brighton pair Caicedo and World-Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister are being explored by Chelsea. The report says that a move for the former would be less problematic, although the Seagulls are believed to want around £70million for the 21-year-old, who joined them from Independiente del Valle in 2021.

Caicedo is no stranger to Chelsea boss Potter, who started the Premier League season as his manager at Brighton. Speaking about interest in Caicedo back in August (as per the Metro), Potter said: "It doesn’t surprise me that people are looking at him because he is playing at a fantastic level.

"As soon as you do research on him you realise he is a top kid, great person, young, playing in the Premier League, has all the attributes to play at the very, very highest level."
