Moises Caicedo gives Chelsea transfer hint amid Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd interest

Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo has admitted that he wants to reunite with Graham Potter at Chelsea in the long-term as Todd Boehly gains a transfer incentive over Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd.

Potter's Chelsea era got underway finally on Wednesday night but his Blues outfit suffered the same attacking deficiencies as Thomas Tuchel's team did in a 1-1 draw against RB Salzburg in the Champions League. The now former Brighton manager has a huge job on his hands to get his team into the Round of 16 with the west Londoners currently placed bottom of Group E after two matches.

The new owners have made a splash at Stamford Bridge having spent £250million plus on big-name signings in their first transfer window in charge. But one of the major problems that will still need addressing in the long-term is the midfield area, with both Jorginho and N'Golo Kante set to see their deals expire at the end of 2022/23.

Denis Zakaria joined in the summer on a season-long loan whilst Mateo Kovacic is injury prone and questions persist over Conor Gallagher's long-term future - while Carney Chukwuemeka is certainly one for the future. Therefore, one-two new additions could be made in this area and one loyal Potter lieutenant has already made his feelings clear on a move.

Caicedo, 20, who joined Potter's Brighton revolution from Ecuadorian side Independiente for a mere £4.5million back in February 2021, has since had a spell in Belgium before returning in January 2022 with the Seagulls. And it's fair to say he has made a great impact, having effectively replaced Yves Bissouma this season.

A goal at the end of 2021/22 vs Man Utd in a 4-0 drubbing has been the highlight of the midfielder's time in the English top flight to date, but his work-rate and quality in being able to poach the ball and dictate the midfield battle is something has already appealed to the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and the Red Devils themselves. All of whom have been linked with the player in the upcoming markets.

However, the Brighton midfielder is keen on Chelsea and a reunion with Potter. Something that now gives Boehly the incentive to pay Marc Cucurella type-money for the Seagulls' finest selection of quality players.

"It made me very sad now that he left for Chelsea because he helped me a lot and I wanted to continue having him as a manager, but that’s football," Caicedo told Ole via the Evening Standard. "Right now I’m very focused on Brighton and the World Cup. I want to have a great World Cup and then we’ll see what happens.

"I think they are one of the best teams in the world and nobody would turn down an offer from Chelsea or any other club like that. It’d be a dream to be in the best teams in the world and succeed there."
