Moi Elyounoussi opens Celtic return door as released Southampton winger delivers 'you never know' hint

Celtic fan favourite Moi Elyounoussi hasn't ruled out a return to Parkhead with Brendan Rodgers set to sign on the dotted line.

The Norwegian spent two years on loan at Celtic whilst Neil Lennon was manager, helping to secure the ninth title in a row, but ultimately falling short in his second spell which saw the Hoops lose out to bitter rivals Rangers.

He has since played two more seasons at Southampton, but with the south coast club going down this season and his contract running out, he will depart the club after a five year spell - despite almost half of that being spent in Glasgow. Attentions now turn to Brendan Rodgers' recruitment once he is announced, and in his previous spell as Hoops boss, he tended to shop down south for the likes of Moussa Dembele, Scott Sinclair and Kolo Toure.

He was linked with a move for the attacker whist boss at Leicester and, with Elyounoussi obviously having the talent and knowing the club, it could be a match made in heaven - with the winger refusing to rule out a move north.

Speaking to Viaplay ahead of his potential outing against Scotland in the European Championship qualifiers, Elyounoussi said: "Yeah, I just know him from playing against him.

"From what I've heard, he's an excellent manager and is loved by the fans up there. It's a massive pull for the club and probably for him too, so it's a good link up I think.

"We'll see. I enjoyed my time there. I didn't get much time to play with the fans, it was mostly without fans.

"I enjoyed my time there and you never know."
