Mohamed Salah appeared to announce Manchester United's midfield made it "easy" for Liverpool in the Reds' 4-0 win over their bitter rivals at Anfield on Tuesday.
Liverpool opened the scoring in just the fifth minute against the Red Devils, with Salah setting up Luiz Dias to tap home. The Egyptian then bagged himself a brace either side of a Sadio Mane effort.
Assessing the match, Salah admitted United made things easy for Jurgen Klopp's side. "In midfield, they make our life easier," he said. "We have a clean sheet here and there. Once we get the first goal, we want the second and the third. It was a top performance by us and hopefully, we continue."
However, he later clarified: "I meant our midfield, and our defence, make it easy for us. I was not talking about the Manchester United players whom I respect."
On his goalscoring form, he added: "I score many goals for this club. Sometimes you have bad luck. The most important thing is the team winning. We just need to focus on ourselves and the rest is not in our hands."
Thiago Alcantara also spoke to the press following Liverpool's victory.
"When we have these attackers in front of us and you see not only how they score but in defensive situations, they want to get involved. It makes us perform," he explained. On his own performance, he added: "I can't be the one to judge my performance. It is one of the strongest performances at Anfield. We are not worried about where the goals come from. We are happy with all the strikers and how we play."
The usually fiery Roy Keane was on Sky Sports punditry duty for the derby and couldn't even muster being angry after the final whistle, admitting he's just "sad" watching United these days.
"I think it was anger at the start of the season, now I just think it is sadness," explained the former Man United captain. "You look at the team today, there was no heart, no soul, no leaders."
