Mohamed Salah puts Liverpool struggles behind him with Egypt brace as Darwin Nunez suffers shock defeat
Mohamed Salah struck either side of half-time as Egypt beat Niger 3-0, while Darwin Nunez also played the full 90 minutes of Uruguay's 1-0 defeat to Iran.
The 30-year-old Egyptian, who has endured a difficult start to the new season at Anfield having only found the back of the net three times since his penalty against Manchester City in the Community Shield, put his country ahead after 43 minutes with a sublime strike into the far right corner.

After team-mate Mostafa Mohamed added a second for the hosts at the Bord El Arab Stadium on 55 minutes, Salah was there to seal the victory for Egypt from the penalty spot with just over 20 minutes to go.

Liverpool 'increasingly confident' of agreeing terms with £50m midfielder
Liverpool have reportedly opened "talks" with Naby Keita over extending his stay at Anfield with his contract due to expire in the summer.
Keita, who is yet to feature for Jurgen Klopp's side this season, was rumoured to have been unhappy with his situation at Liverpool in the summer and open to a move away.
Despite Keita's reported wishes in the summer to potentially leave Anfield, the Reds would like to try and secure the long-term of the midfielder.
But according to Football Insider, Liverpool are "increasingly confident" in securing Keita's future at Anfield with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and his former club Leipzig said to be interested in making a move.
