Mohamed Salah medal recovered by police after Liverpool star's house raided

Mohamed Salah's African Cup of Nations runners-up medal is one of a number of items recovered by Police after the Liverpool star's house was reportedly burgled in Cairo.

Egyptian authorities confirmed on Wednesday (as per BBC Sport) that two men had been arrested following the alleged break-in at Salah's residence in the country's capital. Egypt's Ministry of Interior said that one of the men detained was a former security guard of the residential complex.

Other items said to have been taken in the raid included football boots and satellite receivers.

A relative of the Liverpool forward is said to have noticed a window open in the property on Saturday evening, prompting him to contact authorities over fears of a break-in.

His fears were later confirmed to be with merit, as Egyptian outlet Al-Ahram reported a force from the Cairo Investigation Department were soon on the scene to assess the state of the property.

Salah is currently in Madrid with Liverpool for their Champions League Round of 16 second leg clash at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Reds trail by three goals after Los Blancos stunned Jurgen Klopp's team with a 5-2 away win at Anfield.

Egyptian star Salah will need to be at his devastating best if Liverpool are to extend their interest in this season's competition beyond this evening.
