Mohamed Salah first words to Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool after dressing room speech

Your Liverpool morning digest for Wednesday, February 9.

What Mohamed Salah did in Egypt dressing room moments after AFCON final defeat

Mohamed Salah told his Egypt team-mates that they would get "revenge" on Senegal in the immediate aftermath of Sunday's clash between the two sides.

Salah was eventually on the losing side in the Africa Cup of Nations final, with his Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane scoring the winning penalty in his nation's shootout success.

Liverpool forward Salah was clearly upset after the game on the field and he could be seen having a cordial discussion with Mane and other Senegal players.

While there was a lot of respect shown between the two sides in the public eye, footage has emerged from the Egypt dressing room of a much more visceral address between the Egyptian players.

The mood was defiant among the group and although Salah was clearly dejected, he tried to rally his fellow countrymen.

"We played four matches all 120 minutes in about 12 days," he said, referring to Egypt's gruelling pathway to the AFCON final, per the MailOnline.

"But it's in the past now, we have the games against them next month and inshallah we will take revenge on them."

Salah was referring to the upcoming World Cup African playoffs, when Egypt and Senegal will go head-to-head again.

Mohamed Salah's first two words to Jurgen Klopp after AFCON heartbreak as Liverpool return confirmed

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Mohamed Salah has declared his intention to play a part against Leicester at Anfield.

But the Reds boss also confirmed that Sadio Mane will not be involved when they host the Foxes on Thursday night.

Both Mane and Salah played 120 minutes of the Africa Cup of Nations final between Senegal and Egypt as the former struck the winning penalty in the shootout in Cameroon on Sunday evening.

Mane is currently with the Senegal squad soaking up the celebrations in his home nation as a result and is not due back on Merseyside until later this week.

Klopp, though, says Salah is raring to go as he aims to add to the 23 goals he has scored already this season, despite having played 480 minutes in less than a fortnight with the Pharaohs at AFCON.

“Mo is now back," Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com "I spoke already to him.

"He is very disappointed of course, but looking forward to all the things coming up here now.

“I spoke to him and pretty much the first thing Mo told me was: ‘I’m ready.’ Haha!

“He is an experienced player, he is a physical monster, to be honest, so we have to see.

"He will obviously have a little recovery session today and we will see how he feels tomorrow and from there we go."
