Liverpool have been told how Mohamed Salah “exposed” a problem for Manchester City.
The Reds beat Man City in the Community Shield on Saturday as they claimed a 3-1 win at the King Power Stadium in Leicester, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Salah and Darwin Nunez on the scoresheet.
Salah’s goal came courtesy of a penalty in the second half, not long after City had equalised through Julian Alvarez to cancel out Alexander-Arnold’s opener. The Egyptian also provided the assist for Liverpool’s first goal, and played a key role in Nunez’s header in stoppage time.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes Salah’s performance against Man City “exposed” a weakness at left-back. Joao Cancelo played in that position, and Robinson says the Liverpool forward cast a spotlight on a possible issue for the Reds’ title rivals.
“Cancelo did brilliantly at left-back last season,” Robinson told Football Insider . “He was in my team of the year. He was outstanding.
“It has to be said though, he had a tough afternoon against Salah. He was exposed one on one against him.
“City have Cancelo and they have Nathan Ake as left-back options.
“But if they could strengthen anywhere it would be at left-back. I don’t think it would be a disaster if they did not sign one though.
“(Marc) Cucurella would have been a great fit. But Man City do not want to be held to ransom and overpay for a player. Brighton are in a very strong position.
“It looks like City are going to start the season without a recognised left-back.”
