Mohamed Salah has now scored as many goals at Liverpool as club legend Sir Kenny Dalglish.
The Reds were in Premier League action against Aston Villa on Boxing Day, It’s their first top flight encounter since the conclusion of the World Cup in Qatar.
Salah was named in Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up against Villa. He was alongside Darwin Nunez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in Liverpool’s forward line at Villa Park.

The Egyptian opened the scoring for Liverpool, after latching onto a first-time cross from Andy Robertson. In doing so, Salah has equalled a record set by Reds icon Dalglish.
Salah’s goal against Liverpool was his 172nd in a Liverpool shirt since he signed for the club from Roma in 2017. That is the same amount as Dalglish scored throughout his entire career as a Liverpool player.
The goal against Villa came in Salah’s 276th appearance for the club. To put that into perspective, Dalglish achieved his tally across 515 appearances for the Reds.
Salah now has 16 goals to his name in all competitions this season. The strike against Villa was his second since the resumption of English football, after his goal in the defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
It takes Salah to joint seventh on Liverpool's list of all time top scorers, 11 goals behind Robbie Fowler in sixth and 14 adrift of Steven Gerrard in fifth. Ian Rush tops the list with 346 goals, Roger Hunt scored 285 and Gordon Hodgson notched 241. Billy Liddell is fourth on the list with 228 goals.
