Mohamed Salah has become Liverpool’s all-time leading goalscorer in Europe after netting in the Reds’ Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
The Egyptian already had an assist to his name, having set up Darwin Nunez’s opener, when a slip from goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois gifted the 30-year-old one of the easiest goals of his career.
Pouncing to prod home from close-range, the strike was the forward’s 175th for Liverpool from just 288 games. Meanwhile, the goal was his 42nd for the Reds in Europe, coming in his 66th continental match, as he moved ahead of Steven Gerrard as the club’s outright all-time leading goalscorer in European competition.

Having scored seven goals in this year’s group-stages, the strike was also Salah’s eighth in this year’s Champions League. As a result, he has now moved ahead of Kylian Mbappe as the leading goalscorer in this year’s tournament.
Salah had scored against Everton and assisted against Newcastle United in his last two appearances before facing Real Madrid, with his tap-in against the La Liga giants his 19th goal of the season from 34 appearances.
