A Leeds boy will be starting studying for his Bachelor's degree at just 16 years old after winning a prestigious scholarship.
Talented dancer Tre'von Gibson, 16, has won a scholarship to the Northern School of Contemporary Dance without even having to audition. He was scouted by the school, and will start his Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance Performance, skipping Level 3 qualifications like A-Levels due to his talent.
Trev'on, who has long dreamed of being a professional dancer, went to Co-op Academy in Harehills, and received his GCSE results just last week. He achieved a Distinction in music and eight Grade 4-7s.

He lives with his parents and two siblings, and said: "I guess I’ve always been surrounded by dance and music in my family. My Mum sings and my Dad makes Rap music. I started dancing in primary school 9 years ago and I went to RJC Dance in Leeds - a club where my cousin teaches.”
Tre'von started dancing when he was seven, and when he started at Co-op when he was 11, began performing in and choreographing for all of his school shows. He has worked on Hairspray, Seaweed, and Beauty and the Beast to name only a few.
His music teacher Sharleen Shaw went above and beyond during lockdown to hep him keep practising his talents by delivering a school guitar and keyboard.
She said: "We knew that resources in school wouldn’t necessarily be available at home, but it was so important to us that students could continue practising and not be hindered by the lockdown.”
“It’s been a pleasure to teach Tre’von. He’s brilliant and takes on everything like a sponge, always developing his skills and guiding other students to do the same. He takes the lead on building harmonies, has led rehearsals as young as age 11 and even now is coming back into school, in his own time, to teach dance for our next performance - Beauty and the Beast.
"He’s simply a shining star. You know there’s something special about Tre’von. Although he’s very modest and still doesn’t realise how good he is, you can sense the love and passion there."
Tre'von hopes one day that he will be a performer for the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
