A builder who scooped £105 million by winning the EuroMillions jackpot is secretly pining for his old life, pals claim.
Steve Thomson misses bantering with his work colleagues on the job, according to friends who describe him as “modest” and “humble”.
Since winning the lottery in 2019, Steve is said to spend most of his time walking his dog and being with his family at his £4.5 million estate in Kent.
Steve originally had a business selling windows and conservatories in West Sussex. He stayed on to complete outstanding orders for his customers after his jackpot win instead of giving up work immediately.
Steve also helped out his local community, giving £50,000 to a school two of his sons attended, another £50,000 to a medical centre, and £100,000 to a cricket club.
One friend told the Sun: “Steve obviously feels really lucky to be in the position he’s in.
“But nothing could’ve prepared him for the change in his life after he won the EuroMillions. He’s a very modest, humble bloke and loved his life as a builder.
“Steve misses the job and all that comes with it, like the great lads he worked with and the brilliant banter they had together on site.”
Steve previously lived with wife Lenka and their three kids, in a £150,000 three-bed terrace house. The family decided to stay there for a year before buying their current home.
The 14.5-acre estate has a swimming pool, tennis court and six bedrooms.
Steve invested a large chunk of his win into a trust with bank Coutts & Co with money going into stocks, shares and property.
Although called ‘Mr Sensible’ by friends, Steve splashed out on three £100,000 Range Rovers, a £100,000 Tesla, and a £200,000 bright green Lamborghini.
In spite of owning several supercars, he still drives his wife’s second-hand Volvo.
