A model who travelled to Turkey for new veneers costing him £3,000 says he wants to “pluck his teeth out” - after claiming he resembles a “shark”.
Jack James, 22, wanted to get new teeth as he wanted to “look better on camera” so decided to get a flight out to Turkey. After the surgery, he was pleased with how it went until several months after when he noticed symptoms of infection.
Jack, from Manchester, noticed bleeding, pus, and “horrible breath” which lead to him booking an urgent dental appointment, reports Bristol Live.

The check-up confirmed that Jack had an infection and his teeth were in ruins. A surgery to fix this issue would have cost the man a further £20,000. In a fit of desperation, Jack returned to Istanbul costing an extra £4,500 to remove his new teeth.
Once his veneers were removed he was horrified to find his actual teeth had been filed down to little stumps, comparable with a shark’s teeth. He was then fitted with a new set of crowns which are still in place as of now - although one has recently fallen back out since his return to the United Kingdom.
Jack compares his experience with his new teeth to “something out of a horror movie” after his new teeth started to become problematic.
After being satisfied with the new veneers he had put in during September 2022 seeking to “look better on camera”, he noticed he had slight difficulties whilst flossing. He thought nothing of it. It wasn’t until his teeth started bleeding last month that he truly suspected something was wrong.
Jack decided to have an appointment with a dentist to see what the problem was where they told him his teeth were a “mess” and that it would cost at most £20,000 to solve the problem.
So in hearing this, Jack decided to call the clinic back in Turkey to ask for their help. To which they replied with a denial of any wrongdoing and that Jack would have to “pay again to get them fixed”.
To clear the infection, the Istanbul clinic got rid of any abscess and put in new temporary veneers, which cost £4,500 to have done not including flights out to Turkey and back. The infection was gone within a few weeks, after which he had new permanent crowns put in.
He then returned back to the UK in early June 2023. But once returned, a veneer completely fell of whilst he was brushing them – and is now missing a crown, which has caused a massive gap in his teeth.
He is telling others to take caution and do some background research before you go abroad for cosmetic surgeries. He wishes he could change the past and get composite bonding. But he “can’t change the past”.
