Mock trade sees Bulls flip Alex Caruso for 21-year-old guard

The Chicago Bulls don’t want to rebuild their roster. Arturas Karnisovas made that clear at the end of this past season. And so far this summer, they’ve made moves toward improvement. The Bulls have re-signed Nikola Vucevic and Coby White, and they signed Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig.

However, while the Bulls may be against tearing things down, it could serve them well to exchange some players for younger assets. They can still be a competitive team, but adding youngsters in the hope of securing a brighter future in Chicago would be in their best interest, as their current core doesn’t seem to be a true title contender.

Mavericks receive: Alex Caruso

Mock trade sees Bulls flip Alex Caruso for 21-year-old guard: Hughes' reasoning

This is why Hughes thinks Chicago should make the deal:

“This deal hinges on the Bulls finally angling for a rebuild and prizing Hardy, who just turned 21 and averaged 21.4 points per 36 minutes on 40.4 percent shooting from deep last season,” Hughes wrote.

Mock trade sees Bulls flip Alex Caruso for 21-year-old guard: Should the Bulls make this trade?

All reports surrounding the idea of a Caruso trade have indicated that the Bulls value him very highly, to the point where some question their overall willingness to trade him.

Hardy is a very intriguing young player, but he would be competing for minutes with Carter and White.

While this deal is intriguing, the Bulls would likely rather keep Caruso around, and it’s not enticing enough to say that they should definitely pull the trigger.
