Mobility scooter crash in Weston-super-Mare injures boy, 3

Police are searching for the driver of a mobility scooter who hit a toddler in Weston-super-Mare, leaving him in need of hospital treatment.

The three-year-old boy was out with his grandmother in Weston on Friday afternoon (August 12) when the incident happened outside the Betfred bookmakers on Waterloo Street at the end of the Boulevard.

Police said there was 'a collision involving a toddler and a mobility scooter'. The man riding the mobility scooter has not been identified, and police said they are keen to find him and any witnesses of the collision.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said: "The boy was taken to hospital and it is believed he will make a full recovery.

"We are keen to identify the driver of the mobility scooter which was grey/silver. He is described as a white man, with grey hair, of large build and in his 60s. If you witnessed the incident, or have any information which could aid the investigation, please contact us.

"If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5222198153, or complete our online appeals form," they added.
