Mo Salah Breaks Luis Suarez's 11-Year Premier League Record

Mo Salah helped himself to another Premier League record after scoring against Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Salah netted from the spot to put Liverpool 2-1 up against their bitter rivals after Matthijs de Ligt handled in the box. However, the Reds had to settle for a point after an entertaining 2-2 draw.

A goalless first-half soon burst into life in the second period. Lisandro Martinez gave United a surprise lead when he fired home from close range after 52 minutes.

The Red Devils joy was short-lived when Cody Gakpo equalised before Salah struck his customary goal. Amad Diallo scored with 10 minutes remaining to ensure a share of the spoils.

Arne Slot’s side are now six points clear at the top of the table ahead of nearest rivals Arsenal. The Merseysiders still have a game in hand over the Gunners, too.

From Salah’s perspective, he is now level with Thierry Henry for Premier League goals (175). But the record he did clinch today is hugely impressive.

Manchester United are certainly Salah’s favourite opponents. Since joining the Merseysiders in 2017, Salah has scored 16 goals and provided six assists against the Red Devils. More than any other side he has faced for the club.

Next up for Salah is a trip to Tottenham on Wednesday for the first-leg of the League Cup semi-final. Ahead of the game, the best football betting sites in the UK have all the latest odds and markets.
