Mo Brings Plenty moving from Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Yellowstone’ to ‘Bass Reeves’

"Yellowstone" regular Mo Brings Plenty has moved on to another Taylor Sheridan production and Paramount+ series, "Lawmen: Bass Reeves."

The limited series, which tells the story of the first Black deputy U.S. marshal west of the Mississippi River, wrapped up production earlier this week.

Brings Plenty, an enrolled Oglala Lakota, will play Minco Dodge, a Choctaw who is friends with Reeves, played by David Oyelowo.

On "Yellowstone," Brings Plenty plays Mo, the right-hand man of tribal chief Thomas Rainwater.

Last month, the Paramount Network announced "Yellowstone" would end with its current season but said it had given the green light for a new, untitled sequel.

Sheridan told The New York Times that Brings Plenty’s overriding quality is truthfulness.

“There is a real honesty to Mo’s acting — a comfortable vulnerability,” he said. “One of the great things about long-form storytelling is that it allows me to react to actors who really shine. Mo began as a co-star on the show, and now he is a series regular. That is how much his portrayal leaped from the screen.”

Brings Plenty joined the "Lawmen: Bass Reeves" cast along with Dale Dickey ("Breaking Bad"), Tosin Morohunfola and Margot Bingham ("The Walking Dead"). Others on board include Lauren E. Banks, Forrest Goodluck, Barry Pepper, Demi Singleton Dennis Quaid and Donald Sutherland.

"Bass Reeves" began production in North Texas with filming locations in Fort Worth, Glen Rose, Weatherford, Stephenville and Strawn. Paramount+ and 101 Studios have not announced when it will premiere.
