Mná na Bohs to hold vigil for Ashling Murphy at Dalymount Park on Wednesday night

Bohemians supporters' group Mná na Bohs will hold a vigil for Ashling Murphy at Dalymount Park this evening.

The club’s women’s supporters’ group have invited fans and non-fans like to attend the vigil will take place at the stadium in Phibsboro, Dublin 7, beginning at 7pm.

“Mná na Bohs is holding a vigil for Ashling Murphy at Dalymount Park on Wednesday, 19th January at 7pm,” said Mná na Bohs.

“All are welcome to join in solidarity to end violence against women. RIP Ashling.”

23-year-old primary school teacher Murphy had been running near the Royal Canal in Tullamore, Co Offaly around 4pm on Wednesday evening when she was attacked and killed.

Her death has caused widespread shock and grief, and prompted renewed calls for action to stop male violence against women.

A second suspect has been detained in connection with the case following the arrest last night of a man in his 30s on suspicion of murder.

The second man, also in his 30s, is being questioned "in relation to potential withholding of information contrary to The Offences Against the State (Amendment) Act 1998.”
