Oof, Laz Diaz.
This was not a great strike three call from the umpire on Aaron Judge, a ball from Kevin Gausman that was clearly low, especially to the ginormous New York Yankees outfielder. (For what it’s worth, we’ve seen this happen a lot with Judge, with pitchers trying to throw low enough and get a strike out of it).
What’s worse is Diaz defended it as Yankees manager Aaron Boone argued a little from the dugout and was clearly wrong.
Check out the pitch and the resulting argument, as Diaz tells Boone, “Ain’t no way that pitch is down.”
It was indeed down

Many think Angel Hernandez is the worst umpire in MLB at calling balls and strikes. FYI: Laz Diaz has missed more such calls this year than anyone else and that was true before this game even started. pic.twitter.com/mGxmDFrc33

Laz Díaz just made a terrible strike three call to Judge. Terrible.

It would be pretty nice if Laz Diaz wasn’t a complete loser and could simply not call balls 4 inches below the zone for strikes
