There's something about playing in the city of Toronto for 15-year MLB veteran Carlos Santana. Over the weekend, the Dominican Republic native completed a three-game streak with a home run against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre, bringing his season total to seven home runs. This contributed to the Twins securing their sixth consecutive series win and marking their 17th win in the last 20 series this season. With this victory, Minnesota now trails the Central division leaders, the Cleveland Guardians, by just half a game.
It was the second time this season that Santana hit home runs in three consecutive days following a streak between April 25-27. Despite the recent form, the 38-year-old has struggled to find his game this season.
After the series against the Blue Jays, the Dominican is now averaging .212/.288/.409/.697 on the season, his worst splits since 2022. But that didn't stop Santana from letting it rip. Two of his home runs came with the game tied, including his three-run dinger in the seventh inning on May 12 to seal the game for the Twins.
Ryan Jeffers also added a home run in Saturday's game to take the Twins' tally to four over the weekend. With that, Minnesota has now homered in 20 straight games at the Blue Jays' Rogers Centre dating back to 2017.
Santana finished Mother's Day weekend with five hits in his 12 at-bats and added seven RBI to go with his three home runs to close out the Twins' road trip.
