SEATTLE - Ranger Suárez continued his dominating season with another spectacular outing against the Cincinnati Reds, helping his team to a 7-0 win on the road. A Cincinnati offense that has been in-form lately was reduced to just two hits thanks to Suárez' pitches.
In his fifth start of the season, the Venezuelan threw seven scoreless innings, reaching 25 consecutive innings without a score going back to the fourth inning on April 6 against the Washington Nationals.
Suárez' scoreless streak is the longest by a Phillies pitcher since Cliff Lee threw 30 2/3 scoreless innings between Aug-Sept of 2011.

"I tried to get quick outs," Suárez said. "Pitching in the zone, forcing contact to get those quick outs, I think I tried staying down in the zone," he added.
And get quick outs was what he did. He only needed 88 pitches to complete seven innings last night, his lowest amount in a game since that scoreless streak started against the Nationals.

As the Phillies won their seventh consecutive game, Suárez improved to 4-0 in the season and he has an ERA of 1.36 in five starts so far this season (ranks 6th in MLB). In fact, the Venezuelan has been part of one of the most in-form pitching departments in all the Majors. Since their seven-game win streak began, Phillies' starters have a 0.52 ERA. If we include the entire season, their 2.20 ERA is the second-best mark in the Majors.
The fact that Suárez has pitched the second-most innings by any player this season (33.0) and only allowed five runs the whole season is quite remarkable. According to Baseball Reference, Suárez has saved 11.87 runs this season, the best average among all MLB pitchers.
