SEATTLE - An unexpected hero appeared from the bench On May 2 at the New York Met's Citi Field. After dealing with an illness for a few days, shortstop and team superstar Francisco Lindor was relegated to bench duties in their game against the Chicago Cubs.

"I was going to throw up at shortstop...or do No. 2 at shortstop," Lindor said after the game.

But just doing what superstars do, Lindor put the illness aside and helped the Mets secure an extra-innings win against the Cubs to seal the three-game series for the Mets.

The Puerto Rican came off the bench in the sixth inning and ignited his team's comeback. His pinch-hit, two-run double (his first of the day) tied the game with five runs apiece. With the ballgame tied in extra innings, Lindor's bat came up clutch again hitting a two-run double in the 11th to give the Mets their 16th win of the season.

"Today, I was a role player," Lindor said. "That's what it comes down to. I had to be ready for whenever my name was called," and in fact he did. He finished the game 2-for-3 with four RBI and also scored one run. It was the the second time in the last two weeks that Lindor had four or more RBI in a single game, a stat line he accomplished just four times in all of last season.
