MLB's Latino Of The Night: Can Anyone Stop Cuban Powerhouse, Texas Ranger Adolis García?

SEATTLE - The Cuban Adolis García has been doing it all for the Texas Rangers to start the season. In his last game against the Oakland Athletics, García went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, a run, two RBI and a stolen base to help the Rangers defeat the A's 6-2 on Wednesday, April 10.

After going 0-for-4 in the first game of the series, García countered with his first three-hit game of the season. A blank stat sheet is not something García is used to seeing much this year, as he has notched at least one hit in 10 of his 12 games in 2024.

Fresh off a contract extension just weeks ago, the Cuban has been motivated to show what he is worth this year, ranking among the top 10 in all the Majors in RBI (13) and homers (4), while posting a slash line of .292/.340/.604 through 53 plate appearances.

García secured a two-year contract extension that guaranteed him $14 million after helping the Rangers win their first-ever World Series title last season. The Cuban outfielder had career-highs in home runs (39), OPS (.836) and even took home ALCS MVP honors after homering in four consecutive games against the Astros last year.

Celebrations started early in the Rangers game against the A's. Before the game, several Rangers players were presented with their Silver Slugger and Golden Glove awards from last season, with García receiving the first Golden Glove of his career.

García's energy hasn't dropped 12 games into the season. In his last nine games, the Cuban accounts for 11 hits and has only gone one game without one during that span. His efforts have the Rangers at the top of the AL West with a record of 7-5.
