MLB Network’s Jon Morosi lit the baseball world on fire on Friday with a social media post stating that Shohei Ohtani was on a flight to Toronto, leading fans to assume that the two-way superstar could be signing with the Blue Jays.
It was later reported that Ohtani was home in Southern California the whole time and not on a plane at all. Morosi offered an apology later that night stating that his earlier post was inaccurate.
On Monday morning, while speaking about pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s suitors during an MLB Network segment, Morosi cleverly poked some fun at himself.
“I’m not sure exactly what mode of transportation the Yankees have taken to meet with Yamamoto,” Morosi said. “Plane, trains, automobiles. Not my area of expertise.”

Ohtani made MLB history when he struck a 10-year, $700 million deal with the Dodgers on Saturday. It’s the richest contract in North American sports history.
