MLB has an umpire problem. These guys in blue have been really bad this year, and it hasn’t just been Angel Hernandez, who has been his usually bad self this season.
We’ve seen childish ejections. We’ve seen one ump get stopped from trying to confront a pitcher. And we’ve seen so many other bad calls that have left players and fans shaking their heads.
Oh, and we’ve seen some terrible called strikes by home plate umpires. Just this past week we thought we had seen the worst one of the season… but then this happened last night in Miami.
Look at how bad this call was by Bill Miller:

That’s beyond horrible. It’s also brutal that it happened in the 9th inning of a tie game. The Marlins were able to shake that off and beat the Giants shortly after that but still, that call was absurd.
Big miss in a high leverage situation by umpire Bill Miller.
This pitch to Avisail Garcia missed low and inside by 5.23 inches. Instead of drawing a walk to move the winning run into scoring position, the at bat continued.#Giants #Marlins @AvisailGarcia pic.twitter.com/h1SlfikZwI

That’s so embarrassing.
