MLB Fans Irate As Mets-Nationals Postponed After Hours-Long Rain Delay

After a near four-hour delay, the Mets' game against the Nationals on Saturday was suspended with one out in the top of the third inning and fans were not pleased.

When the first pitch was thrown, there was just light rain, but as the game progressed the precipitation increased.  After less than an hour of play, the tarp was placed on the field with the Nationals leading 1–0 in the top of the third inning.

Although the tarp was eventually removed when the rain subsided, the grounds crew was unable to get the field back in playable condition.

Fans became irate when the game was eventually suspended, nearly four hours after the tarp initially hit the field. It was decided that the game would resume tomorrow as part of a split doubleheader.

Plenty of fans and media members voiced their frustration on social media after the hours-long wait resulted in a unsatisfying ending. The game will continue at 12:35 ET, then the second game of the doubleheader will begin at 4:35.
