The latest proof of that came Thursday night when they lost at home again to the Milwaukee Brewers and fell to a season-worst nine games below .500. They've now lost 18 of their last 24 games and are sitting at 36-45 on the season, which is good for fourth place in the NL East.
The Mets have made a lot of headlines recently, and none of them have been for good reasons. Now we have another one of those moments thanks to Max Scherzer, who teamed up with his catcher, Francisco Alvarez, to botch a foul ball during Thursday night’s loss.

Not great!
MLB fans roasted Scherzer and the Mets:
Entirely scherzers fault but he’s a big baby and will blame Alvarez for this https://t.co/LdG75bFTYQ

This shows me that Scherzer has trust issues. https://t.co/4H9VcJa3mX

Scherzer getting mad at his catcher when he shouldn’t have even attempted to catch that foul ball is peak Mets metsing. https://t.co/3sHdwpyn1j

No, that’s Max Scherzer trying to make a play on a ball that isn’t his, and not helping Alvarez up. Bad teammate. https://t.co/US4LmkNXtX
