The Mets were absolutely embarrassed by the Braves on Saturday, losing 21–3 in the opener of the doubleheader at Citi Field.
The Braves, who boast an MLB-best 74–41 record, outhit the Mets 22–6 in the win. Allan Winans dominated New York on the mound, scattering only four hits and no runs over seven innings in just his second big league start.
After the drubbing, the Mets Twitter account conspicuously opted to omit the final score on social media, as well as any image following the humiliating blowout defeat. The club simply tweeted: “FINAL: Game 1 is over.”
FINAL: Game 1 is over.

Atlanta has now outscored the Mets 28–3 over the first two games of the series. New York, which has been held scoreless over 16 innings dating back to Friday night, finally ended the scoring drought via Daniel Vogelbach’s three-run home run in the eighth inning.
Things may not get any better in the nightcap when the Braves send Spencer Strider, MLB’s strikeout leader, to the bump.
MLB fans were too slick for the obvious omission by the Mets social media team and absolutely roasted the club.
