Hull headquartered builders’ merchant MKM capped off an incredible 2022 by being named Large Corporate of the Year.
Continued growth, which saw the milestone 100th branch open, was recognised at The Yorkshires - a celebration of the best of the county’s businesses laid on by Yorkshire Children’s Charity.
The year also saw the first MKM Home open in Hull, a “game-changing” state-of-the-art kitchen and bathroom showroom described as unlike anything else available to homeowners or tradespeople across the region. A further branch has subsequently opened in Grimsby.

Kate Tinsley, chief executive, said: “We’re very proud of our Yorkshire roots here at MKM, so it was fantastic to be recognised as Large Corporate of the Year by ‘The Yorkshires’. This event does a fantastic job of recognising the wonderful people and businesses that exist here.
“It also raises significant funds for children living at a disadvantage across the region, so it was really special to be a part of the event this year.
“For MKM, this award is a huge honour and recognition of all of the hard work that we have put in as a team across 2022. “The future is looking very exciting at MKM.”
The team, including co-founder David Kilburn - who has just joined the Hull KR board - were among more than 400 people who gathered at the Queens Hotel in Leeds.
Lincolnshire astronaut and author Tim Peake made a celebrity appearance as key-note speaker.
