Following the recent election, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell expressed his joy at the Republican Party's success in regaining the presidency and securing a Senate majority. McConnell highlighted the positive outcomes of the GOP's victory, emphasizing that the Senate filibuster will remain intact under the new majority.

During a press conference, McConnell stated that maintaining the filibuster was a significant achievement for Republicans, as it prevents Democrats from lowering the 60-vote threshold required to pass major legislation. He also pointed out other advantages of the GOP majority, such as blocking the admission of new states that could provide a partisan advantage to the opposing party.

Furthermore, McConnell mentioned that the Republican-led Senate would refrain from criticizing the Supreme Court for its decisions, signaling a shift towards more respectful interactions with the judiciary.

McConnell asserted that having a GOP-controlled Senate would serve as a check against individuals seeking to alter rules to achieve their desired outcomes, emphasizing the importance of upholding established protocols.

Earlier this year, McConnell announced his decision to step down from GOP leadership post-election. Senate Republicans are scheduled to elect a new leader in the upcoming week, marking a transition in leadership within the party.
