Missy Keating forced to step out of RTE's Dancing with the Stars this week after testing positive for Covid 19

Missy Keating has been forced to step out of Dancing with the Stars this week after testing positive for Covid 19.

RTE confirmed that Missy will not be participating in this week's show after contracting the virus.

A spokesperson said the Dubliner is feeling well and hopes to return to the show next weekend in full health.

Missy and her dance partner, Ervinas Merfeldas will train virtually until Missy has concluded her quarantine period.

Commenting on the news, Missy said: "Absolutely devastated to announce that due to Covid, I won't be performing on Dancing with the Stars this Sunday."

The 20-year-old daughter of singer Ronan Keating and his ex wife and model Yvonne Connolly admitted she is heartbroken to miss this week's special 'dedication' show.

The influencer told how she had planned to pay tribute to her dad's mother and her late grandmother Marie Keating, who passed away from cancer before she was born.

Missy said: "Dedicated Dance Night was something I really wanted to be part of.

"My dance was going to be in honour of my beautiful grandmother, Marie Keating, who I never got to meet.

"Those who know her cancer story, know she was taken from our family at an extremely young age, and this was my moment to be with her and dance for her.

"So, I'm heartbroken with the circumstances."

It comes after her dad posted an emotional video last week opening up about his grief, and paid a touching tribute to his mum to mark the anniversary of her death.

Ronan was just 20 when Marie passed away 24 years ago, and, along with his siblings Ciarán, Gerard and Gary and Linda and his father Gerry, he created the Marie Keating Foundation in her name.

Missy is hopeful she will come back better than ever next week, and plans to return in style to celebrate her milestone birthday too.

She added: "Please God I will be back on that dancefloor next week.

"I turn 21 next Friday so Ervinas and I have a super fun performance planned to celebrate it. Will keep you updated."

It is 'Dedicated Dance' week for show six on Dancing with the Stars this Sunday so each dancer will dedicate their dance to someone special in their lives.

There will be no elimination at the end of this week's show.

But, the celebrity who achieves the highest combined score, when the judges scores and the public vote are put together, will get a 'free pass' from the first dance-off next week for show 7, on 20th February.
