A Missouri woman outsmarted thieves who were stealing her Kamala Harris signs by using an AirTag to track them down, ultimately finding them in the back of a "rich kid's" car.

Laura McCaskill, a Springfield, Missouri, resident experienced multiple frustrating instances after getting several Kamala Harris/Tim Walz campaign signs stolen from her yard.

On October 18, McCaskill had enough after she experienced a fourth theft, Ozarks First reported. Determined to find out who was responsible and to put an end to it, McCaskill and her partner used an Apple AirTag to track their latest missing sign.

The sign was then traced back to a residence in the nearby town of Nixa. When McCaskill and her partner arrived, they rang the doorbell and were greeted by a woman. When asked about the car parked in the driveway, which McCaskill's partner recognized, the woman claimed it was her son's.

"She finally came up and we said hello, and we said we think that you have something in that car that was taken from our neighborhood," McCaskill told the outlet. "She said, that was her son's car and she said, 'Well, he's just an idiot' and then she goes back in and we thought that was interesting."

Eventually, the two were able to locate the signs, which were in the back of the young man's car. They were shocked to discover that it was filled with nearly 60 stolen campaign signs. McCaskill references that each sign was worth a $20 donation, which would amount to over $1,000 in stolen signs.

"I expected to find the air tag, but not 59 signs. It was kind of like finding a dead body. It was like are you kidding me? Most people, they take them and they throw them in a dumpster or they throw them in someone else's yard. It was like there was a bounty on [the signs]," McCaskill said.

Video footage taken during the encounter shows the young man's mother tossing signs toward McCaskill and yelling "Here you go liberals."

Following the confrontation, McCaskill filed a report with the Springfield Police Department, which has taken possession of the recovered signs. She also uploaded the video to TikTok for everyone to see.

"This is pervasive theft. This was calculated. This is a different level," McCaskill said. "My son said, you know, the best thing that you can do is to shame the behavior and he said to post it."
