'Mission accomplished' - Virgil van Dijk and Liverpool stars react to Mohamed Salah contract

Members of the Liverpool squad have taken to social media to celebrate the news Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract at Liverpool.

The Egyptian penned a fresh three-year deal on Friday, committing his future to the Reds until 2025. He's understood to be earning around £350k a week, making him the highest paid player in the club's history.

It's been a long time coming as negotiations dragged across the majority of the 2021/22 campaign. Any speculation over Salah 's future has now been put to bed with the new contract.

Liverpool have already parted ways with one big star this summer as Sadio Mane joined Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. The squad have shared some messages on social media, delighted Salah will remain at Anfield for the foreseeable future.

Defender Virgil van Dijk responded to the tweet with a gif, while Harvey Elliott congratulated his teammate, saying: "Mission accomplished, congrats Mo."

Kostas Tsimikas also shared the 'Salah stays' post on his Instagram story, adding a smiley face with heart eyes emoji. Captain Jordan Henderson shared a similar sentiment with a post of the announcement, adding the partying face emoji.

Goalkeeper Adrian posted a photo with Salah on his story, captioned: "The rest of the Premier League goalkeepers don't like this... But we Reds love it!"

Some former Reds also shared their reaction to the news, as legend Sir Kenny Dalglish gave his seal of approval. Michael Owen also weighed in, saying the extension 'made sense' for both the player and the club.
