For at least three days, Emma Tetewsky screamed. And screamed. And screamed.
The Massachusetts resident had gone for a hike in Borderland State Park near Foxborough on June 26.
That was the last time anyone heard from her until a pair of hikers heard her shrieking on Monday.
The Easton Police and Fire Departments started a search, and shortly thereafter, crews found her trapped in a vat of mud, miraculously "conscious and alert" — alive and relatively unharmed.
They estimated that the 31-year-old had been there for at least three days.
To reach her, rescuers had to tread through 50 feet of water through thick brush and swamp, according to Fox News. And that was after they had to use all-terrain vehicles to reach the remote area in which she had gotten stuck, a statement by the Easton Police Department said.
They carried her back to shore, where she was treated by firefighters. She was taken to a local hospital with "serious, but not believed to be life-threatening" injuries.
"I’d like to commend our Easton officers, who blindly jumped into the water and followed the woman’s calls for help," said Easton Police Chief Keith Boone.
"We’d also like to thank our incredible Fire Department, Borderland State Park rangers, and the hikers who heard Emma and called 911," he continued. "Without this coordinated effort, this rescue would not have been successful."
"This is the best possible outcome," added Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara, the chief of the department in Tetewsky's hometown.
Tetewsky isn't the only hiker to have gotten lost in American State Parks in recent weeks.
Ian O'Brien, an experienced Arizona-based hiker, went missing in the San Juan mountains of Colorado around two weeks ago and has yet to be found.
The 28-year-old sent a selfie to his girlfriend when he reached the top of Hesperus Mountain but hasn't been heard from since.
And last week, 16-year-old Esther Wang was found after a 54-hour search of Golden Ears Park in British Columbia, Canada, just north of the US border.
She had been separated from her group, then eventually found her way out of the woods on her own.
It is yet unclear how Tetewsky got lost or what her current condition is.
