The body of a 26-year-old missing woman has been found with her limbs tied after leaving home to visit her mum.
Teacher Ellida Ferreira was found dead near a steam on the east side of São Paulo, Brazil, on Monday.
According to family members, the victim went missing at around 8pm two days earlier after leaving for the Tiete Bus Station in the district of Vila Guilherme.
She was planning to meet her husband and six-month-old son at her mother’s house in Campinas.
However, Ellida never made it there.
Concerned relatives sounded the alarm and launched appeals on social media.
However, the victim’s brother Valdir Anderson Lima announced the search had come to an end on Monday after her body was found near a stream.
According to reports, the corpse was found wrapped in a sheet and tied with rope at her feet and hands.
Valdir said: “Thanks to everyone who shared our posts. My sister was found without life, may God’s justice be carried out.”
“As long as I’m alive, I will fight for justice, my love. I will love you forever, my brunette,” he added.
The São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP) said the victim’s body will undergo forensics tests to establish the circumstances behind her mysterious death.
The police are also reviewing CCTV footage in the area where the victim’s body was found.
No suspects have been announced yet as the investigation continues.
The Mirror reported about a 20-year-old woman who was shot dead in Brazil last month while waiting for the bus with her ex-boyfriend accused of murder.
Jenifer Cristina dos Santos Moreira was killed on Avenida Ragueb Chohfi, São Paulo City, Brazil, in the early hours of October 20 allegedly by her former significant other while waiting for public transport to get to work.
The following day, her ex Alessandre Garcia da Silva, 35, was arrested. And he has reportedly confessed to the crime, according to local media.
The moment the suspect approached Jenifer from behind as she is sitting on some steps with co-workers waiting for the bus has been captured on CCTV cameras.
Her former partner then allegedly proceeds to shoot at her five times.
After the horror attack, Jenifer was rushed to the Hospital Santa Marcelina but succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
According to local media, the victim's family claim that the suspect could not accept that the relationship between himself and Jenifer ended.
Allegedly, he proceeded to make threats against her and her two children - including a nine-month-old girl he fathered.
Police spokesperson Leandro Resende said: “He threatened her before, she went to the police station, we launched an investigation, and we asked for protective measures.
"The judge gave her the protective measures, but even that was not enough to contain this hatred and desire to take her life.”
