A cat that was missing for 11 weeks from its Co Armagh home has finally been reunited with its owner.
Ruth McCauley has thanked everyone who helped her become reunited with her beloved pet cat Miles after he safely returned home on Tuesday.
The six-year-old ginger and white cat had gone missing from her home in Russwood Park, Portadown, on November 29 last year sparking an online appeal that quickly went viral with people from across the world lending their support.
This included cast members from Emmerdale, Coronation Street, and The Chase doing their bit to help.
Miles was found eight miles away in Clare, Tandragee.
Speaking to Belfast Live, Ruth said that she was overjoyed to finally be reunited with Miles and although he was very hungry and thin, he had appeared to have not suffered any injuries while he was missing.
She said: "After Miles had gone missing I started posting appeals across social media in the hope that someone might have seen him.
"I had updated my posts on Sunday when a friend contacted me to alert me to a photograph that had been posted underneath one of them that looked a like it could be Miles, but it was hard to tell because of the angle.
"I asked the man if he would be able to send a few more pictures of it over and when he did the next day I was almost certain that it was Miles.
"I went up to his house and met the man's mother and was going to leave his carrier with them incase he turned up, but while I was there I thought I would have a look for him and after crawling under a gate I started to shake his bag of treats and call his name.
"Then all of a sudden I heard a meow and then another one and I saw this little ginger and white thing looking at me from across the road.
"Miles was quite scared at first but with the help of my mum, who came with me, we were able to get him into his carrier and were heading back home."
Ruth says that Miles has been "starving" while he was away and is eating lots of his favourite foods in order to get his weight back up again and will be going to the vets later in the week.
She continued: "I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has shared my posts and tried to help me be reunited with Miles again, this wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for all of your support and I am so grateful.
"Miles has been exploring the house again and has been purring away while he is curled up beside me. He is very thin after being away for so long but other than that he doesn't seem to have suffered any injuries, but I will be taking him to the vet in order to make sure he is alright.
"He will be staying inside the house for the next few weeks and I am planning on getting him a GPS tracker so that when he does go outside again, we will be able to monitor him and make sure this does not happen again."
