Miss Rory announces new Newcastle show for Queen's Platinum Jubilee month

The self-styled Queen of Comedy is to reign over her fans at a glamorous new show in Newcastle this summer.

Miss Rory, star of the city 's Boulevard cabaret club, has announced a 'royal romp' of a production which will be staged at Tyne Theatre & Opera House in June. Land of Hope & Rory will play out with all the trademark fizz and frills on June 30, the end of a month which will include a four-day Bank Holiday to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The jubilee street parties and celebrations will run from June 2-5 and Miss Rory is promising her own show will be "fit for royalty", while also being a "no holds barred critique of everyday British life." Fans of the Boulevard star can expect her comedic - and possibly caustic - style to be brought to bear on subjects which make Britain 'Great' - and not so great.

In the run-up to the announcement, they had been teased with images of Miss Rory's profile on a first-class stamp and now, with the new show and its Great British theme revealed, there is no holding back her claims that everyone is in for a right royal romp.

Miss Rory has become a familiar figure at the historic city theatre - just down the road from her usual home ruling over the 'poverty pit' at Boulevard - where she has previously starred in shows One Woman and What’s Up Hun?. Most recently, she also trod the boards at Sunderland Empire, starring alongside Su Pollard over the festive season in the pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Land of Hope and Rory can be seen at Tyne Theatre on June 30 at 8pm and tickets will go on sale, first to priority mailing list customers and friends of the theatre, at 10am on Monday, March 21 and then to the general public at 10am on Tuesday, March 22. Anyone interested in priority booking can sign up to the 16-plus list on Miss Rory’s Facebook page.

A group offer of one free ticket for every 10 seats is also available by calling 0300 321 4947. For more about what's on at Tyne Theatre see here.
