Miss Ireland kicks off search for 2022 contestants for Diamond Jubilee show

Miss Ireland is already on the hunt for its 2022 winner.

The competition, which helped launch the careers of people like Rosanna Davison, celebrates its 75th year in 2022 and promises their "largest and most spectacular show" this summer.

The competition is looking for young women who want to follow in the footsteps of last year's winner, 26 year old Pamela Uba from Galway City.

Since taking the crown, Pamela has become a familiar face in Ireland and has also made waves internationally with TV appearance in LA, London and Johannesburg.

Pamela spent a month in Puerto Rico representing Ireland at Miss World and is set to return there in March for the overall final.

Miss Ireland is encouraging applications from every county with the winner from each going on to compete in this year's Diamond Jubilee Miss Ireland show.

The finalists of Miss Ireland 2022 are set to be put through their paces in a challenging competitive process testing their skills in debating, public speaking, talent, sports, modelling and social media.

They will also be tasked with raising much needed awareness and funds for their chosen charities.

The competition was established in 1947 and in recent years, the event has raised over €300,000 for various charities including Laura Lynn, Temple Street, Alzheimer’s Ireland, Pieta House and The Cari Foundation.

This year, Miss Ireland is partnering with Variety Ireland, a charity helping children facing illness, disadvantage and special needs.

The winner of Miss Ireland 2022 will receive a lucrative agency contract and other prizes including jewellery, gowns, professional photo shoots, beauty products and hair products.

They will then go abroad to represent Ireland at the Miss World Festival, an event that is televised in over 100 countries around the world.
